I am a guy, so ironing is about as low on my list of life-love's as it can possibly get.. and fortunately, I don't have to wear a lot of dressier clothes for work, so the need to iron is fortunately not ever-present in my life.
However, it seemed a bit archaic not to have one and there have been a few occasions where I really did need one, so this iron came into my life at just the right time. I like it because it's sturdy and well-built, it's fairly idiot-proof (i.e. with safety features that will prevent me from tipping it over/forgetting it's on and burning my house down). It really glides across fabrics and makes ironing as easy and enjoyable as is humanly possible.
The best iron is still either my mom (Thanks, Mom!) or my dry cleaner, but this is the next best thing!
My mother used this iron in the '60's and after trying a bunch of different (and much more expensive) brands, I found this iron at a local store, and bought 2! These are heavy (an advantage when pressing lots of seams) and get very hot (Good for quilting cottons). I do not like auto-off, because I want my iron to stay hot. I have it plugged into an outlet that turns off when I turn off the lights as I leave the room, so this is not a problem. Love it.
The move from a cheap, thin cotton ironing board cover to this has made such a tremendous difference in my ironing experience. I will never go back from this style/material.
I was very pleasantly surprised to see that this product has a Cradle to Cradle certification from MBDC. I am surprised that the manufacturer doesn't seem use this for marketing at all. What isn't clear to me is exactly how one goes about recycling the materials when the cover's useful life eventually ends.
The cover fits fine on my ironing board, which I measured to be sure before ordering.
The only annoying thing to me is that the foam underneath got a bit creased so the surface is not quite smooth. The ironing isn't really affected, but I am rather particular and would prefer to have a more consistent subsurface.
I have owned several ironing boards in my life. Many of them were quite expensive. This is one of the greatest. Its value is its weight. The idea of lifting a regular ironing board out of its closet and setting it up gets more and more daunting as time goes on, and I get older. This board is wonderful. It is very light and also easy to set up. I recommend it highly. Its slightly small size also makes it easier to find a storage space for it.
I have tried the vacuum cleaners for 20 years and I keep getting more. Now I have the corless iron and couldn't be happier. After I got one for free I purchased 3 more for friends and now I am getting more for family .
We have had this ironing board for one year now, its been GREAT !!
I was a little worried at buying an ironing board that costs this much, due to all the others always fell apart after 6 months or so. BUT, not this one...after one year of hard use...its STILL as good as the day we bought it. Yes, the ironing pad top will turn a little colored due to the heat from the iron, but everything else has stayed like new.
My wife is 5ft zero....and she can handle this very well and it adjusts perfectly for her. There are even rollers to make moving it easier too. I would say this is the best ironing board for the money, if you want one to really last and not fall apart. GREAT PRODUCT !
I searched Amazon.com for a replacement cover to replace one from an existing over-the-door ironing board that I have had for 10 years. This one fit my board perfectly. Very snug, now wrinkles. It is a great replacement that I am sure will last for years. The vendor shipped the item very fast.
I purchased this same iron at Target 3months ago and I use it everyday. I didn't experience the problems the previous reviewer had. I find this iron to be a pretty decent one. I had a Rowenta and paid double the price and was so disappointed when it leaked constatntly. It was one of the worst irons I owned. I would think twice before I buy another Rowenta.
This Sundbeam iron is a good one and the steam is strong and I haven't experienced any leaks. I use this iron everyday and I am very satisfied.
The directions are very unclear about how to put on the door. I still dont have the door on.
